British House of Commons adopts resolution on IOK, Senate Foreign Relations Committee successfully presents stance before global community

Islamabad, the 6th February, 2019 :

First of its kind International Conference on solidarity with Kashmiris facing Indian atrocities held in British House of Commons. Motion moved and adopted by British Government and opposition, representatives, Members of Parliament (MPs) endorsed by Senate Foreign Relations Committee was adopted by the Government through the Foreign Minister. The Committee will recommend adoption by Senate of Pakistan in its Report.

The British Parliament Committee Room 14 International Seminar to which Senate of Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Committee was invited is the initiative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) was participated by global leaders including former Prime Minister of Norway Mr.Kjell Magne, the focal person on way forward on UN Human Rights Report on Human Rights violation on Indian held Kashmir, former Australian Senator Ms Lee Rhiannon, Vice Chairperson OIC- Independent permanent Human Rights Commission Dr Raihanah Binti Abdullah from Malaysia, shadow cabinet ministers and former ministers of UK, President of AJ&K Sardar Masood khan, two former Prime Ministers of AJ&K, Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Quershi, Leader of the House in Senate of Pakistan, Senator Shibli Faraz, Chairman and 10 members of Foreign Affairs Committee representing all major parties of Pakistan which speak and exhibit national census on solidarity with the Kashmiris and Kashmir cause. Representatives of all political parties, provinces took part in Conference and besides expressing solidarity made valuable contributions in Conference proceedings

Senate Foreign Relations Committee having representation of all political parties in the Senate is a manifestation of the fact that all shades of political opinion are united on Kashmir issue. Senate Foreign Affairs Committee will prepare a detailed report on the visit which will also be placed in the House to take institutional ownership of the initiative being the House of Federation. The Committee Report would reflect the sense of Upper House of the Parliament. The Senate Committee during the event has played a proactive role for liaison of the efforts being made for the cause of the Kashmir. As a Major achievement, the House of Common adopted a motion highlighting the brutalities in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOk).

The event was organized by Rehman Chishti, a member of British Parliament and Chairperson of All Party Parliamentary Group on Pakistan.

While addressing the International Kashmir Conference Chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that pallet guns and rape, are being used by Indian Occupied Forces to subjugate the unarmed youth raising voice for their right of self-determination and no such examples exist in the history of warfare which Indian forces have relied on in IOK, however, all such tactics have miserably failed.

He said that this is the only conflict on the UN agenda whose resolution was agreed to in form of UNSC Resolution seeking an inalienable right to self-determination, Senator Mushahid said this while addressing the audience.

The highest soldier civilian ratio makes it more unique in any modern warfare, Chairman of Senate Foreign Relations Committee observed. He paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Kashmir who resisted the brutalities and inhuman treatment of Indian forces. “There are winds of change in Asia and people are talking of peace” Senator Mushahid said.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier devised a strategy to vociferously highlight the significance of the day at international level and divert attention of the global community towards the brutalities of the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.
