The Federal cabinet meeting held on Tuesday opposed increasing petrol prices.
A cabinet meeting was held under Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad where majority of the ministers opposed hiking fuel prices. They were of the view that the hike will upset the people.
The decision to increase petrol prices has been left to the prime minister.
Speaking about this at a press conference, Advisor to prime minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the prime minister has sent the matter to increase prices of petroleum products to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
She said that the petrol prices are not being increased for now.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority(OGRA) had recommended increasing petroleum prices by as much as Rs14.
