Talks restored among PM Imran Khan and Afghan President Ghani: American Ambassadar Khalil Jalil

Prime Minister Imran Khan told Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday that Pakistan would make every effort to advance the common objectives of restoring peace in Afghanistan and having a fruitful bilateral relationship between the two countries.

During a telephonic conversation, the premier also invited the Afghan president to visit Islamabad to discuss the peace process.

The dates for the visit will be decided through mutual consultations, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office. The two leaders agreed to work together for socio-economic development and poverty alleviation in the two countries.

Imran said Pakistan’s approach towards Afghanistan was defined by a spirit of brotherhood.

“The prolonged Afghan conflict has damaged Afghanistan and adversely affected Pakistan over the past decades,” he added.

“For the sake of the two peoples, the aim of the leadership should be to help build peace, promote economic progress and advance connectivity for regional prosperity,” he told the Afghan president.

The premier reiterated his vision for finding a peaceful solution to the Afghanistan conflict, fully owned and led by the Afghans themselves.
